On January 26^th, Macau TCM(Nanguang Macau Bus)and Macau Transmac(Transmac) bus company invited the Transport Consultative Committee for a trial ride on the newly introduced range extended electric buses produced by Yinlong Energy, in which the two buses received positive feedback.

In the site testing, the 7.5 meter range extended electric minibus passed smoothly the representative turn of Macau minibus routes, i.e. the “the turn from Rua de Cinco de Outubro to Rua de Tarrafeiro”; the 10.5 meter range extended electric dolphin bus adopts lightweight design, weighing less than 15 tons, which is the weight limit of buses passing the Governador Nobre de Carvalho Bridge. The two buses fully meet the driving standard on basic road conditions of Macau bus routes, which could help to promote Macau buses towards environmentally friendly energy.

Early on, the “Bus Handover Ceremony of Yinlong Energy Buses to Macau SAR” was held successfully at the Yinlong Energy headquarter in Zhuhai. Zheng Yuewei, deputy director of Transport Bureau of Macau SAR, Dou Baosen, Chairman of the board of Nanguang Macau bus, Liao Xiyun, Chairman of the board of Macau Transmac, and Lai Xinhua, president of Yinlong Energy, attended the ceremony. During the ceremony, they discussed how to deepen cooperation between Zhuhai and Macau on public transportation and how promote a better Macau that is suitable for living and traveling. 

Pushing Forward the Public Transportation Development in Macau

Bordering the west of the Pearl River mouth, Zhuhai lies next to Macau as a neighboring city. Building on years of cooperation between the two cities, Zhuhai-Macau cooperation is on a fast track towards the future, especially after the opening of the Hongkong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge and the accelerated progress of the integration of Guangdong-Hongkong-Macau Greater Bay Area. At the ceremony, the two range extended electric buses tailor-made for Macau by Yinlon-7.5 meter range extended electric minibus and 10.5 meter range extended electric dolphin bus set forth towards Macau, injecting new energy forces into the public transport system of Macau.    

Through the cooperation with Yinlong energy this time, as addressed by Zheng Yuewei, “we can provide more data and options for choosing new energy buses for Macau, and encourage public transport entities to adopt more environmental vehicles to reduce emissions from vehicle exhaust, and thus lowering carbon emission. It could push forward the continuous development of green transportation in Macau.” In his speech, Dou Baoshen said, “Currently, as the pace of integrated development of the greater bay area accelerates, the exchange and cooperation between Macau and Zhuhai will be all the more deeper. Through the delivery of two Yinlong buses this time, we can inject new momentum for developing environmentally friendly busses of Macau, set up new benchmark to achieve a further development of new energy in Macau and enrich the Maucau-Zhuhai cooperation.”

Liao Xiyun mentioned, "With consideration of the special environment and facilities in Macau, Yinlong Energy managed to develop new energy buses that apply to the operation condition of Macau within such a short time. Their support for the new energy development of public transport in Macau reflects the deep cooperation between Zhuhai and Macau. It’s a good example of Zhuhai helping to promote a diversified development in Macau.” Lai Xinhua also pointed out that “The development of green transportation is not just to meet citizens’ demand for public transportation service, but also a step to promote the tourism reception capacity of Macau through green buses, and to promote the integration of the Pearl River Delta area and a sustainable development for Macau.”

Co-Development Driven By Shared History

In the “Agreement on Deepening Cooperation Between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao and Advance the Development of the Greater Bay Area” ,  it is proposed that the comprehensive advantage of the Guangdong-Hongkong-Macau Area should be given full play and support Macau in building a tourism, education and training base, and build a healthy bay area.

Green transportation is an important part of building a green and low carbon city, which is the direction of the green public transportation development in Macau. The range extended electric buses tailor-made for Macau is powered by batteries, which drives the motor when batteries are sufficiently charged, providing power for the vehicle; when the battery level is below certain rate, the engine is activated to provide energy to charge the batteries, during which process energy conversion is efficient and lowers fuel consumption significantly. What’s more, no exhaust is emitted during this process and energy conservation and environmental protection is achieved.

2020 has witnessed the 21^st year after Macau was returned to China. The Yinlong 10.5meter range extended electric dolphin bus adopts a dolphin bionic shape, which is the same design as the “No.1”Bus running in the capital city Beijing. The vehicle is painted red as the main tone, and conveys “patriotism” along its footprint around the city.  

New Driving Force for Tourism Development in Macau

As an international free port and the center of world tourism, Macau has one of the densest populations in the world. Macau is a small place with many narrow streets, which poses a big challenge to the public transportation system in Macau as economy and tourism keep expanding. To accommodate to the characteristics of the road conditions in Macau, Yinlong Energy developed the 7.5 meter range extended electric minibus, which has excellent passing ability in congested road blocks and can easily maneuver in bumpy and narrow streets.

Yinlong range extended electric mini bus will be incorporated into the public transport network in Macau, connecting major bus routes and branch routes. It has a compact appearance and a mall turning radius, which allows agile movement in the most difficult road conditions. Unlike traditional diesel buses that experience abruptness in startup acceleration, this minibus is powered directly by batteries, which it is smooth and quiet when operated. The large side window offers passengers a fuller view of the city when touring around.
