An agreement on the cooperation of 2,000 LTO electric heavy-duty trucks was recently signed between Yinlong Energy and SAIC Iveco Hongyan Commercial Vehicle Co. Ltd (SAIC Hongyan). The two companies entered into strategic partnership to explore in depth the cooperation and technical innovation in the field of new energy heavy-duty truck. At this stage, Yinlong is expected to provide LTO power batteries that are developed and produced by itself to be used on SAIC Hongyan heavy-duty trucks. By drawing on their respective resource and strengths, Yinlong and SAIC Hongyan will make significant contribution to the promotion of heavy-duty trucks powered by new energy, achieving big strides in their development.

Win-Win Partnership to Bring Forward Change in the Heavy-Duty Truck Industry

To fully implement the Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China and the Atmospheric Pollution Prevention Law of the People's Republic of China, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the State Administration for Market Regulation co-released the Limits and Measurement Methods for Emission from Heavy-duty Diesel Trucks (Stage 6 in China) and it’s set to be launched nationwide in July 2021.Under the influence of this policy, heavy-duty trucks fueled by new energy will become the hot market in heavy-duty truck industry in 2021.

SAIC Hongyan is the first heavy-duty truck manufacturer in China to bring in European vehicle manufacturing technology. Statistic shows that the fuel consumption of a 90-ton heavy-duty truck equals to that of 100 cars, and that to replace it with an electric heavy-duty truck would save 180,000 liters of diesel annually. The environmental benefit of the electrification of heavy-duty truck is obvious and it’s an important measure for realizing “carbon neutral” and winning the war of protecting a blue sky and promoting energy transition.   

Providing Solutions to the Pain Points of New Energy Heavy-Duty Truck Industry

Although there is a promising future for the new energy heavy-duty truck market, problems such as poor safety, low environmental adaptation, long charging time, heavy resource consumption, inefficient operation and short battery life, severely hinder the electrification process of heavy-duty trucks. Take charging time as an example, regular lithium batteries require 1-2 hours to be fully charged and a truck that works for 24 hours will need to be charged twice, which greatly reduces the operation time and results in poor economy. To solve this problem, Yinlong and SAIC Hongyan work together to provide solutions of LTO power batteries to the new energy heavy-duty truck industry.

Yinlong LTO power batteries feature superior safety performance, long service life, wide working temperature, high-rate and fast charge and discharge, all of which provide solutions to the pain points of new energy heavy-duty truck industry. Generally, the working condition of heavy-duty truck is complex and the demand of work is big, and under harsh working environment such as that of coal mine or limestone mine, traditional batteries are likely to have safety hazards. Yinlong LTO power batteries, on the contrary, is proved to be safe and reliable by experiments as no fire or explosion are observed during destructive tests such as drilling and cutting. It is highly adaptable to all sorts of complicated working environment.

What’s more, a heavy-duty truck that is powered by Yinlong LTO batteries can be normally charged or discharged within a wide temperature range from -40℃ to 60℃, which means that it can operate in extremely cold areas; also, it can be fully charged within 10 to 15 minutes, which helps to increase charging efficiency and vehicle operation efficiency. As the need for space to build charging piles is reduced, problems such as difficulty of planning the construction of charging piles and its high cost are solved. In addition, its high-rate performance in discharging, which ranges from 3C to 6C, makes driving easier when it comes to complicated road conditions such as steep hill, hollows or mines. At the same time, LTO batteries have a cycle life of more than 25000 times, which means battery replacement are not needed during vehicle’s full life circle, reducing maintenance cost and guaranteeing a safe and stable system.
