Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates and a place of endless wonder, can always surprise you with yet another state-of-the-art technology round the corner. However, on its way towards extreme modernity, green development is never absent. Its new approach towards a zero-emission public transportation is Yinlong Electric Bus powered by fast charging LTO batteries.

Yinlong Electric Buses are officially launched in Abu Dhabi, marking the first time that electric buses powered by fast-charging LTO batteries came into service in the Middle East. They brought new driving force to the development of sustainable economy in Abu Dhabi, besides brand-new experience of electric buses that integrates safety, efficiency and greenness.        

Showcasing Solid Strengths in the Global Market

The two buses delivered to Abu Dhabi this time are the best-selling bus models of Yinlong Energy, they are the Dolphin Bus and Vintage Dangdang Bus. These two buses are equipped with fast-charging LTO batteries developed independently by Yinlong, which are not only zero emission, low-carbon and environmentally friendly, but are also capable of completing charging within 20 minutes. What makes it a perfect match for Abu Dhabi is that Yinlong LTO batteries can perform normal charge and discharge at a wide temperature range from as low as -50℃ to as high as 60℃.

Abu Dhabi has a typical desert climate where annual precipitation is minimal and the average temperature is above 25℃. On the hottest day in summer, the highest temperature can reach 50℃, which poses a great challenge for traditional electric vehicles. However, LTO batteries might be the answer to this challenge. In the summer of 2020, Yinlong electric bus underwent a performance test and fast charge test on its batteries in Abu Dhabi. Its excellent performance at the high temperature test up to 55℃showed that the extremely hot summer in Abu Dhabi is no obstacle. Yinlong electric bus also passed with flying colors in the road test on downtown area and highway, which lasted for three months, as mandated by the local transportation department.

In an article released by China Arab TV, a UAE media company, it says that “Compared with tradition lithium-ion electric buses, LTO electric buses have more operational advantages in fixed routes”. In fact, besides the advantage at high temperature, Yinlong LTO batteries also feature extreme safety. During destructive tests on Yinlong LTO batteries, including overcharge and over-discharge, penetration, drilling, cutting and burning, no fire or explosion were observed, which is crucial in guaranteeing safety in public transportation, especially in a place where temperature is high during most of the year. On top of that, Yinlong LTO battery’s advantage of fast charging can effectively solve the problem of congested traffic at charging stations caused by long queues. As charging piles are used more efficiently, bus operational efficiency will be increased. This way, the need for charging piles will also be reduced and less land will be occupied.

Working Together Towards Transportation Reform

At the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly, President Xi Jinping pointed out that "the Paris Agreement represents the general direction of the global green and low-carbon transformation to tackle climate change. It is the minimum action that needs to be taken to protect the earth's home. Countries must take decisive steps." As one of the world's major exporters of traditional energy, the UAE has embarked on a new energy development plan in recent years. It is the first country in the Middle East that is committed to reducing carbon emissions across the entire industry chain. It plans to achieve the goal of having clean energy account for 21% of its total energy structure by 2021.

As one of the first countries to join the "Belt and Road" initiative, the United Arab Emirates has always been active in seeking opportunities for cooperation and development with China. In entering Abu Dhabi, the Dolphin Bus brings with it a breath of the sea and the Vintage Dangdang Bus a touch of nostalgic Chinese culture. These two buses represent the growing presence of Chinese products in the UAE.
